I don’t normally write reviews but felt compelled after Fleselling almost didn’t download this book due to the other reviews. The before mentioned homosexual love, is stated as an abstract concept- you don’t really have to worry about your kids reading this one. As a pair they work well together and although there is no sexual attraction or feeling between them at the moment, Tue can see how it may come to grow as Alec gets older.

I love the Nightrunner series. The emotion between them was love not lust, tasteful, moving, and beautiful. Lists with This Book. I was delighted when I found this book and gorged on as much of the series I could find at the time. At times it is distracting that shadws narrator miss pronounces some of the words lynh the strange accents are a bit comical, but it does not distract too much.
The relationship forming between Flewel,ing and Alec is incredibly well-developed, and the auxiliary characters are fleshed out wonderfully, especially Nysander. I’m glad this one got published.

Soon, Alec and Seregil are embroiled in political intrigue and mystery in a land poised on flweelling brink of war with only their wits, skills, and friends to keep them alive. Sometimes keeping a handle on what is happening can be a bit tricky at first but I found I soon got into the flow of it.

One thing to say about the plot is that it grips you and never lets go through the entire book. I am a fan of the fantasy genre and there was a lot of great world-building here but I had a 2. But overall, not a bad book.
Alec is thrown into a group of people who trust each other completely. I got the idea that she cut her writing teeth on fan fic, and conventions from that world kept making unwelcome appearances. It is more like real life this way, the discovery of a kindred soul deepening into an irreplaceable friendship, and the ship of life heading into the deepwater port of loving couplehood. I could have cried. And because I have hundreds of interesting books waiting on the shelves, my most heroic feat of is abandoning this series right now and not after seven one-star reviews.

Old enough to understand the ribald jokes but still young enough to blush. What I am so brilliantly trying to say is: The characters are enjoyable from the first and as they develop across the series you find some new depths.
