For those of you who didn’t hear, didn’t read or didn’t hear of George Carlin, he’s the guy who defined “politically incorrect” no Bill Mahler nonsense, pleasebroadcasting since the ’60’s. It was followed by the posthumous publication in of his “sortabiography” Last Words.
What Carlin believes, and what he explains in this book and his others, is that, given the choice, we should opt for the word that is clearest, simplest and truest over the one that just makes us feel better Also, much of the book is focused on euphemisms, both as used in advertising and in politically correct language. Truthfully, Colbert probably ganked a lot of his material from this book, because it was so similar.

Again, I recommend audiobook version if you rhe to experience this book. It is not about politics or religion. My boyfriend and I took a road trip this fall for our birthdays. Pretty damn respectable, if you ask me and you didn’t The thinking person’s comic who uses words as weapons, Carlin puts voice to teh that capture the modern imagination.
It’s not George, it’s me. The American Victor Meldrew? He doesn’t care about who he offends or what isn’t exactly considered politically correct, and that’s what I love about his comedy.
Cigarette companies market heavily to young people. I wish he was still around, but Porj do feel he left a great legacy that has influenced some of our great comedians today. Not only does he have me doubled over from laughter, but I’m actually putting serious thought into most of what he says.
George Carlin was one of the greatest minds we had the pleasure to see into through works like this. Carlin has always seen life very differently, and let me put it like this, I’d as soon label it humor as horror. I am fifty-five years old, and I am looking for someone who will leave me alone. It’s what you’d expect from his other books, more great stuff from the master.

Anyway, if y This is pretty much what you expect from Carlin – acerbic, abrasive, disrespectful, challenging language that doesn’t give a good goddamn what anyone else thinks. Mildly comic was his riff on how UFO buffs get a bum rap and people that believe in an invisible God Who demands their love get total respect from the media.
I’ve watched a few of his stand-up comedy shows over the years, and I always found him hilarious, but up until recently I had no idea he was a writer. An entirely biased rating as I have a soft spot for Carlin and love his standup.

wlil I wouldn’t recommend it to everybody, but I can guarantee that his fans will like it. Carlin has his comic timing down pat. My favorite sections are always his euphemisms and he doesn’t fail to deliver here. So I thought I would read something that Carlin wrote, laugh a bit, lament the loss. I love George Carlin for being so raunchy, so gross, and so much fun, but some moments, when he gets into really graphic detail about snot or scabs, I got a little queasy.
About this title Audio Format. God Is Not Great. Like his previous books there is very little new here that hasn’t been in his standup act, however, it is still as entertaining as every to listen to him reading it in this audiobook style. Each sentence is dripping egorge humor, harsh criticism, and blunt honesty. Seuss and Jim Henson and Richard Pryor.
He delivers nothing short of what we’ve come to expect. Would that still be rape? George can still bring a decent chuckle every couple pages here. That’s what I really love about Carlin: And how did a “drug user” become a “person with a chemical dependency”?
This book was a great read of some of his routines and other works.
