I must admit that I much prefer his live concerts than his books, although a lot of the materials for puutty books come from his concerts.
Si,ly comes across like an philosopher except really angry and bitter about things in the world. Possibly my favorite aspect is his ability to say something obscene not because he actually thought it, but because he so valued free speech. He does have a few bits that aren’t in previous performances.

A Carlin Home Companion: And how did Carlin get into his line of business, “thinking up goofy s,” as he puts it? And if this is somehow your first opportunity to listen to George Carlin, well, you’re in for a treat. I pktty the rants, the obscenities, the criticism and the insight of this comedic icon of the latter 20th century. Thinking that I should read what I actually enjoy, I picked up this book, the second of the farlin I will be reading by Carlin this year.

Most of the book is verbatim from his stand up, but I love his stand up so it was nice to hear it again. It’s hilarious, short, fun, and covers a massive variety of topics from politics to things that we all think about but never say. The chapters didn’t have a thematical connection most of the times but throughout the book there were several chapters with Short Takes and The Evening News. Instead, I could read for the 10 minutes at the beginning of class and read 10 sections, all varying in length, and put it down without leaving on some kind of cliffhanger.

You might have heard some of these before if youve watched his acts in the past. I just can’t summon up the energy to finish this one.

I am a bigger fan of his more thought out opinions when he really breaks down the absurdity of whatever it is that he’s talking about.
