Is this a YA book? I read it myself before allowing my kids to read it and for me my 15 year old could handle it but many could not. In short, I think Amir’s reaction would have been the same.
Definitely not a “fun” novel to read purely for pleasure. For example, his treatment of Hassan, when deriding him for his illiteracy, and his use of toys and food cblopiec of apologies to reduce his guilt. To me it resonated with an ugly part of humanity and this was the prevailing feeling I had in the end. Hosseini is able to captivate and keep you hooked on a character.

I had read very good reviews about the book and so, I decided to go back and read it a second time to test its reflection into me.
