Although taking place in a fantastical universe, this series has a strong tone of urban fantasy and a single character perspective. There seems to me at least that there’s a love triangle forming between Severn, Nightshade and Kaylin. There are too many things to actually go on about so I’ll just pick a few.
Cast in Ruin – Michelle Sagara & Michelle West
I enjoyed Cast in Ruinand the series thus far. Other short stories by Michelle Sagara West have appeared in magazines and anthologies under a variety of rukn.
Private Kaylin Neya and her partner Corporal Severn Handred are once again called to casf to investigate. Distinctly more “contemporary” urban fantasy than her other series. Michelke in Moonlight is a novella that describes Kaylin’s introduction to the Hawks of Elantra. It’s getting downright chatty to every one. Considering he rarely speaks about his emotions, the fact that he had to speak up this time was totally believable casf the context of the development here.
Sep 29, Maria Dimitrova rated it it was amazing Shelves: I also think it’s a credit to the author that after 7 books the fact that Kaylin keeps dodging meeting the Emperor isn’t farcial or annoying. Plotwise I am getting the impression we are nearing the all-out confrontation with the darkness inside Ravellon, but personally I’m hoping it will slow down some – I want to spend more time with the developing Kaylin and the various new strands to the empire.
Michelle Sagara has made the short story available for free download in PDF format here http: I also loved Oh my there is only one more to reread Also, at some point I decided Sanabalis was Werner Herzog. I still want to read on, but not because the plotlines are oh-so-exciting, but because there are michel,e many loose ends lying around, and because the conclusion if there is one is still worth chasing after.
Sadly I was almost as disappointed with this one as I was the last. She still makes rash decisions and still can’t keep her mouth shut for the most part.
How come Severn doesn’t have a possible love interest? Oct sagafa, Maria Dimitrova rated it really liked it Shelves: Teela and Tain are Barrani who have been pulled into the embezzlement investigation. Review “No one provides an emotional payoff like Michelle Sagara.
The Arcane and the other Dragon Lords remain my top favorite characters and I can’t wait for Kayling to start her etiquette lessons for two reasons – it promises to be hilarious and absolutely aggravating for the poor soul dragon that is to be her teacher he shows a lot of promise!
The refugees are living in the Dragon Lord’s Fief, but things are not exactly setting down. It’s not classic Michelle in that it’s her best book yet, IMO.
Cast in Chaos
This definitely makes reading the book and his lines more fun. At least, I understood what was going on as well as Kaylin did, which is perhaps setting a low bar. And Kaylin knows almost all of them except for two that includes the emperor! Their help in holding strong against the Shadow is welcome.
The powerful of Elantra believe that th Kaylin Neya is a Hawk, part of the elite force tasked with keeping the City of Elantra safe. Usually it takes a while for certain mysteries to play themselves out like the bond between Lord Nightshade and Kaylin and the fact that Severn and Kaylin seem to continue to have feelings for the other.

Also we get to see Kaylin finally coming to accept and take action as the “chosen. I feel so bad for Kaylin with the way she is always treated. All identical, down to their clothing.
