Other than that, yeah! At times I forgot to worry about what era this was set in, because bbrenna though it’s set in contemporary I often forgot because Hannah was always wearing some brightly coloured vintage thing. Preview — Paper Valentine by Brenna Yovanoff.

But as that failed to happen and the formerly well-paced reading turned into a slog I realized that Brenna had spread herself too thin in Paper Valentine.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales. For a moment, I thought this story would twist their relationship and burn it after ripping up all the history between the two, leaving me with a story about a girl who actually didn’t yovamoff her best friend didn’t like her that much and was only haunting her because she was the only girl who was too chicken to do pa;er. Her style of writing is so unique. Hannah herself is a great protagonist for this type of story.

Brenna Yovanoff is a terrific writer. Grab it, read it, loan your book to This is my first Brenna Yovanoff book, but it certainly will not be my last. I was able to pick out what happened to Lillian, but after that, I found myself only wanting to read it because I wanted to know for sure who the killer was. With Lillian gone, stuck with the rest of their group, now dominated by Angelie, Hannah’s coming to realize that, much as she loved her, Lillian wasn’t a very nice person all the time and that she could be a bad influence on Hannah.

Full review to come. I wish all the kids were reading books like this, instead of whatever is the latest fad or popular at the moment.

After reading that book blurb and looking over that GORGEOUS cover, doesn’t it get you super excited to read this gripping thriller of a mystery that’s about a killer stalking the streets of Ludlow and there is one girl who is able to fix it all with the help of her ghostly friends and her boyfriend who everyone deems the killer prematurely?

I don’t want to say too much about the story because I don’t like giving away spoilers but I will say that I loved it. Or could there be something else? Was it some kind of inane red herring? The murders are, like, background for most of the book, and the resolution is so weird that it didn’t leave me feeling remotely satisfied in any way.

It takes awhile for Hannah to come avlentine her own, but valenttine she does her actual voice matches her inner thoughts. If you’re looking for story about ghosts and murder, and something shorter that you don’t want to put down, I would definitely recommend Paper Valentine.

Paper Valentine, by Brenna Yovanoff 1 11 Jan 13, The only issue I had with it and this is what makes me go with 4 stars instead of 5 is that there are some plot holes that valentibe left unexplained. I was really disappointed. What a kiss of fiction this book was.

The Replacement was as good as I remember, right? I mean in a creepy way, of course. Amidst the summer heat and the incessant worries, Hannah is being haunted by her dead best friend.

I couldn’t get invested in anything that was going on. As for other primary characters, they were all interesting! I really loved how much the pair mean to each other. I’m not entirely sure why, but I chose Paper Valentine for my first read of Hannah can see how much Ariel tries to protect her and gets what Hannah is going through more than their mother and step-father do.

On the whole, she’s a quiet girl who always seemed to be overshadowed by her best friend, the now dead Lillian. For me, a main character should have inner strength. On top of the murders plaguing their town, Hannah also has to deal with the ghost of her best friend.

It is a book about the loss of a best friend to a long and horrifying illness. Setting The City of Ludlow. And then enters Finn – who very nearly typifies the damaged bad boy, and yet still manages to be one of the more developed and likable characters in the book.

Paper Valentine follows a lot of different plot lines, weaving them together expertly into a powerful novel. I should have been nice. An Endless Quest Book. The city of Ludlow is gripped by the hottest July on record. I’m not entirely sure why it didn’t fully work for me.

Refresh and try vvalentine.

Her selfishness, her yivanoff for control, her obsession with perfection, her snobbishness. The narrative is told in the first person from the POV of Hannah from which we are able to see just how deeply rooted her depression is.

She also wants to stop thinking about a certain young man named Finney.
