The last borrowde chapters I came to like them as a couple but that was a little to late. Though she possesses remarkable talents and astonishing insight, Veronica MacLeod knows nothing about the man who appears from nowhere to prevent her from committing the most foolish and desperate act of her life.
The character development was good; I just had a hard time with Montgomery’s lack of communication. Other books in the series. Ranney shares a wealth of knowledge about Scotland, the Wcot War, ballooning, and 19th century beliefs about mysticism.
She bodrowed not had an easy time since her parents died and she came to live with her aunt and uncle and their brood of arrogant progeny.
Veronica was the gem here, but she didn’t shine bright enough to save the story. She is adventurous and spirited. Which created some major tension and problems with their relationship. Feb 24, Scooper Speaks rated it really liked it.
But bear with me and the story. There’s a gothic feel to this story as it unfolds and we discover mysteries surrounding the couple. Though she possesses remarkable talents and astonishing insight, Veronica MacLeod knows nothing about the man who appears from nowhere to prevent her from committing the most foolish and desperate act of her life.
It’s interesting to say the least and is integrated well into the story, although frankly it does little difference to how the overall book turned out.
If asked, I would recommend this book to fans of the author or the “trilogy”.

She preferred to be the polite, smiley character borrowedd returned the treatment. She also has the gift of sensing what others are feeling and while for me it wasn’t necessary for the storyline, it was interesting. This 3rd book in the Tulloch Sgathan series is a good ending. Yes, she “feels” Montgomery’s rage, etc. I thought the epilogue was a waste on me.
I liked Veronica, she was witty and had some spunk. Who Is Montgomery Fairfax? Sadly she was not well treated by her husband.

The time period is right after the Civil War. If Montgomery ignored her, she ignored him back. Come on, how stupid would she need to be to NOT know it would be totally improper for her to attend ksren meeting, especially alone.
Refresh and try again. I am always interested in what things make a character tick.
